Instrumentation & Control Engineering


The department of Instrumentation & Control Engineering enriches students with theoretical and practical skills that are required in different domain of instrumentation and control industries. It enables students to pursue a career in the measurement and control of complex industrial & electrical processes. Department comprises a strong team of faculty having extensive experience in industry, research as well as teaching. The department has well qualified and dedicated faculties from IIT’s, and NIT’s having an expertise of emerging fields like modern control system ,virtual instrumentation, distributed control system, intelligent control systems, microprocessor, SCADA, PLC, modeling, analysis and control. Many faculty members have membership of various professional societies like IEEE, IETE, ISTE etc. and are involved in various types of research activities. Department encourages all students and faculty to present and publish the papers, research articles in reputed international / national conferences and journals.

The department is headed by Prof. Monika Jain who has completed her Ph.D degree in “ Clock Synchronization for Satellite, Terrestrial and IP set-top boxes” from BITS, Pilani, in 2010. She acquired M.Tech. in Instrumentation Engineering from DAVV Indore in 1998. She holds more than 50 research papers in reputed International Journal/Conferences into her account. Her research interest include MPEG-System aspects, Clock synchronization for digital transmission of TV signal, set top box domain, multimedia applications, embedded systems, and implementation of AI techniques in field of Instrumentation. She has received grant of Rs. 75,000/ from AICTE for one day NATIONAL SEMINAR “Role of Neurosciences in Instrumentation” held on 11th April 2012, at GCET Greater Noida. She also got grant of Rs. 9 Lakh under MODROBS from AICTE, New Delhi in March 2012. She got two times grant of Rs. 60,000/- from DST for Two Day National Conference on soft computing and Two day National seminar on Recent Advancements in Electrical, Electronics and Automation sector”. She is the Member of IEEE, Life Member of IETE and Member of Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.

The students of the department are regularly exposed to the latest trends in the field of Instrumentation and control engineering through regular industrial visits, expert lectures and workshops, seminar, conference etc. Students are encouraged to undergo industrial training during their courses of study. Student of ICE are securing top position in the UPTU merit list. Many students cleared and scored well in the GATE, GRE and CAT examinations also. A good number of students have qualified GATE exam scoring high ranks at all India level and are being selected in top PSUs. Our students are going for higher studies in IITs, NITs and other reputed institutes for higher studies in abroad also. The department provides ample opportunities for students to work together while gaining real-world experience that prepare them for their future careers. Department also organizes development programs to enhance the overall personality of the students to meet industrial requirements.

Project work is a backbone of technical education hence department encourages students to work on projects in thirst areas like, Robotics, Image processing, Signal Processing for industrial application, Microcontroller based real time projects, Bio medical area, Industrial automation based projects by using PLC, SCADA etc. Good number of students are publishing their project work in Journal/conferences. Students are also actively participating and achieving remarkable appreciations & prizes in co-curricular activities like robotics competition, paper presentations, project competition, national level symposiums, internship programs, sports and other cultural activities in various engineering colleges.

Upon completion of the instrumentation and control engineering degree, students will be prepared for careers in industries that manufacture and apply instrumentation and control engineering including power generation plants, petroleum refining industry, aerospace industries, healthcare firms, chemical firms, environmental monitoring and control companies, waste water treatment plants , food industry and plastic industries etc.


10 + 2 Examination with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects along with one subject Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology with minimum 50% and UPSEE / AIEEE qualified.
